Teaching Faculty Positions in English (ESL)

Westlake University is a new type of non-profit research-oriented university in Hangzhou, the People's Republic of China, supported bypublic and private funding. Westlake University is currently accepting multiple applications fromhigh-level talent for teaching faculty positions to expand the university's professional teaching force further, establish a high-levelteaching system aligned with the university's mission and goals, and provide students with firm learning guidance and support. The specificjob responsibilities and application requirements are as follows:

Open Rank, Non-tenure Track Full-Time Teaching FacultyPositions in English (ESL)

Responsibilities:

1. Develop global-standard English curricula andcourses; create a standardized evaluation system for the assessment of students’ English ability.

2. Teach doctoral andundergraduate English courses and assist students in developing English skills using an integrated and creative approach.

3. Maintaincurrent professional best practices in ESL teaching methods and technology through active learning and self-training.

4. Ensuresufficient office hours to assist students in regular consultation, and the use of library resources, online databases, and otherinformation resources.

5. Organize or participate in other teaching-related and English-related activities on campus.

Requirements:

1. Strong professional ethics and a sense of dedication in teaching. Passionate about teachingEnglish with extensive theoretical and practical experience at the university level.

2. Ph.D. in English, TESOL/TEFL, AppliedLinguistics, or a closely related field obtained from a leading Chinese or international university. Applicants with Ph.D. degrees in otherfields who have obtained a TESOL/TEFL certificate and have extensive experience teaching ESL students will also be considered. Specialconsideration can be granted to native-speaker candidates with extensive experience teaching university-level English. ‚ÄÇ

3.Experienced in university-level ESL teaching.

4. Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

WHAT WEOFFER:

These full-time teaching faculty positions are open at three distinct ranks: Lecturer, Associate Professor, andProfessor. The length of the contract is typically fixed to three years. There is the possibility of renewal, potentially over severalyears.
