Institution Background
Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) has established the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) in partnership with the Taicang Municipal Government and industry stakeholders. The College pioneers the XJTLU 2.0 Syntegrative Education model, designed to cultivate future-ready, innovation-driven leaders.
The Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub (EEH) is a cross-campus innovation platform dedicated to entrepreneurial education, applied research, and venture development. It consists of four divisions: Entrepreneurial Education, Entrepreneurship and Incubation, Enterprise and Industry Ecosystem, and Industry Executive Education.
Position Overview
The Director of Entrepreneurship Education will lead the Entrepreneurial Education Division within EEH at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). This strategic leadership role serves as a key connector between academic schools and industry partners, driving the development of entrepreneurial learning and innovation across campus.
As a member of the campus leadership team, the Director will contribute to institutional strategy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the advancement of entrepreneurial education and research in alignment with the University’s mission.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for entrepreneurial education across the Entrepreneur College (Taicang).
- Design and implement a strategic roadmap for entrepreneurship education aligned with institutional priorities and Syntegrative Education principles.
- Lead the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate taught, and research programmes in entrepreneurship.
- Advance entrepreneurship research platforms and support individual and collaborative research initiatives.
- Strengthen industry engagement by identifying opportunities, developing partnerships, and fostering long-term collaboration.
- Develop and oversee governance frameworks, policies, and operational standards for entrepreneurial education.
- Monitor strategic risks and opportunities and contribute to institutional planning and decision-making.
- Provide executive-level advice and briefings to senior leadership and institutional committees.
- Collaborate with academic schools and university units to deliver cross-disciplinary initiatives.
- Maintain strong external networks with academic, industry, and innovation communities.
- Lead workforce planning and talent development to ensure effective delivery of strategic objectives.
- Represent XJTLU Entrepreneur College at senior-level government, industry, and international forums.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications
- PhD degree with significant leadership experience in higher education, preferably in entrepreneurship education.
- Proven track record in curriculum development and delivery of entrepreneurship education programmes.
- Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and organisational development.
- Strong academic credibility and demonstrated ability to engage with industry and external partners at senior levels.
- Experience in service leadership, operational planning, and performance management.
- Demonstrated success in leading organisational change, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English; proficiency in Chinese is an advantage.
Citizenship and Visa Regulations
Employment at XJTLU is governed by Chinese labour laws and provincial regulations. Eligibility for work permits and visas is subject to government requirements. Candidates over 65 years of age may not be eligible for a work visa in the People’s Republic of China.
